
March 18, 2010 - Wayland - One man is dead after a police chase in Wayland went horribly wrong. According to reports in The MetroWest Daily News, the unidentified male was driving on Route 27 when a police car turned on its sirens and attempted to pull him over. The driver refused to stop and instead continued onto Cochituate Road. After driving at high speed for an undetermined period, the man lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree.
The fatal car accident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The driver of the car has not yet been identified by police, and there were no other passengers in the vehicle. Police have not said what caused them to attempt to pull over this man in the first place.
The driver was pronounced dead at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. Police continue to investigate this crash, and a reconstruction team from the Massachusetts State Police will attempt to determine how and why the accident occurred. The Wayland Police Department will also assist with the investigation.
