March 18, 2010 - Holliston - Police believe icy roads may have contributed to a rollover accident that left a Holliston resident seriously injured on Tuesday. According to reports in the Holliston Tab, 54-year-old Claudia Berry was driving on Washington Street when she apparently hit a patch of black ice, causing her to lose control of her Ford Explorer. The SUV rolled over and Berry, who was not wearing her seat belt, suffered serious personal injuries. The car accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m.
The Ford Explorer was extensively damaged, and first responders were forced to use hydraulic-assisted tools to extricate Claudia Berry from the vehicle. Berry was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was treated for back and neck injuries.
Investigators continue to investigate this serious rollover accident, but their initial conclusions are that the rollover accident was weather-related. There were other area reports of accidents Tuesday morning due to black ice, including another rollover accident on Highland Street. The driver of this vehicle, 64-year-old Bryce Brackett, escaped without major injuries.
