
March 19, 2010 - Mendon - A Mendon resident suffered serious personal injuries on Thursday when she was hit by a truck near the Mendon Municipal Complex in Maple Street. According to reports at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, 51-year-old Wendy Carrabba was walking on Main Street when she was hit by a truck driven by Joshua Trites.
Police say Joshua Trites ran a stop sign on Maple Street and crashed into the victim. Fortunately, due to the location of the truck accident, first responders were able to attend to Wendy Carrabba in minutes. The victim was transported to Milford Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Carrabba is in serious condition at UMass Medical Center.
Police continue to investigate this serious pedestrian accident. An accident reconstruction team with the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement will be reconstructing the incident to determine exactly how it occurred. The Mendon Police Department is also assisting in the investigation. Police have not said if Joshua Trites will face any charges in this accident.
