More Details Released on Drunk Driver Who Killed Methuen Jogger
February 9, 2009 - Methuen - Prosecutors with the Lawrence District Court say 23-year-old David Diaz was not only drunk but also asleep when he hit and killed 56-year-old Lay Bou, who was jogging along Route 110 at the time of the accident.
According to The Eagle Tribune, Diaz told police he had "several beers" in the period between 3 a.m. and when the accident occurred Friday morning. His blood-alcohol content was still highly elevated even two hours after the crash. Diaz is facing drunk-driving charges as a result of this fatal pedestrian accident.
Police have also released more information about the victim of this tragic accident. Lay Bou leaves behind seven children. He was also a frequent jogger who regularly ran along Route 110.
