Nearly 4,000 Mass. Homeowners Have Faced Foreclosure Since January

March 26, 2010 - Boston -
The pace of foreclosures may be slowing from 2008 and 2009, but thousands of Massachusetts homeowners are still facing the prospect of losing their homes each and every month. According to The Warren Group, nearly 4,000 Massachusetts residents received a foreclosure petition in January and February, representing roughly 2,000 homes entering foreclosure each month. A foreclosure petition is the first step in the foreclosure process, but it does not guarantee that the foreclosure will be finalized.

From January to February, foreclosure petitions in Massachusetts increased by 13.2%, although that number is down slightly from what we saw one year ago in February 2009. Even though the number may be decreasing year-over-year, these statistics show that there are far too many Massachusetts homeowners fighting to keep their homes each month.

Some homeowners may be victims of wrongful foreclosure. If you suspect you've been served with a wrongful foreclosure, you should contact an experienced Massachusetts class action attorney right away. The right lawyer can help you fight for your home and prevent the bank from taking advantage of you during the foreclosure process.
