Swansea Car Crash Remains Under Investigation

February 23, 2010 - Swansea - A two-car accident involving a police cruiser that injured several people last week is still being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police. According to SouthCoastToday.com, Swansea Police Officer Alan LaChance was behind the wheel of a cruiser that broadsided a passenger vehicle, injuring two adults and two children.

All four passengers in the vehicle suffered serious personal injuries, including the driver, 21-year-old Jared Sheldon. The one- and two-year-old children are still hospitalized at Hasbro Children's Hospital, but their conditions have been upgraded since the car accident. Both adults are expected to survive. Investigators continue to look into this serious accident, and they will be determining how fast Officer LaChance was driving at the time of the crash.
