March 11, 2010 - Swansea - A teenage boy suffered serious personal injuries on Tuesday when he was hit by a car and run over by a bus while riding a bicycle. According to reports in The Providence Journal, 15-year-old Justin Charron was riding his bike on Hinsdale Avenue when the series of terrible accidents occurred.
Charron was entering the intersection at Bark Street when he was hit by a car driven by Swansea resident Grace Santos. The impact of the collision threw Charron into the street, where he was then run over by a school bus. Neither Santos nor the driver of the school bus, Patricia Grennon, were injured in the crash. It appears there were students on the bus at the time of the accident, but no other injuries were reported. Justin Charron was transported to Hasbro Children's Hospital, where he is currently in serious conditions.
Police continue to investigate this serious bicycle accident. They have not said definitively what caused the crash, but they noted that the victim was listening to music with headphones when the first crash occurred.
