Teen Pedestrian Struck By Cement Truck in Danvers
February 4, 2010 - Danvers - A high school student was struck by a cement truck this morning in Danvers while crossing Route 62 to get to his bus stop around 7:30 a.m.
According to reports in The Boston Globe, 17-year-old Mike Philbrook was crossing Maple Street (Route 62) near Burley Avenue when he was hit by the cement truck. His injuries inlcude a broken pelvis and he is currently in the intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, awaiting surgery. Philbrook also sustained a head injury that required stitches.
Police believe Philbrook was walking in the crosswalk at the time of the pedestrian accident and they are not releasing the name of the cement truck driver at this time. The company that owns the cement truck however, has been identified as The Benevento Company of Wilmington.
The pedestrian accident is still under investigation by Danvers police.
