Toyota Offers Additional Services to Owners Affected by Recall

We are hearing from some Toyota consumers that they are having trouble getting their local dealers to pick up their vehicles (which they are rightfully concerned about driving out of fear of a sudden acceleration incident) for  recall repairs. At least one consumer reports that Toyota won't authorize a loaner vehicle while his Avalon is in the shop for an extended period of time.

In late February, Toyota Corporation announced on its own website that it extended on a nationwide basis a variety of additional services for customers who are affected by the recalls. Toyota announced these services in cooperation with Attorneys General all across the country.

Toyota offered the following additional services to customers concerned about driving their vehicle before the repair is completed.  The services, though, will be tailored to the owner’s individual circumstances and they may include:

• Expediting scheduling of the repair.

• Pick up and return of the vehicle by a dealership representative.

• Driving the customer to the dealership or to his or her place of work.

• Where necessary, providing other alternate transportation for the customer, such as a rental car, loaner vehicle, or taxi reimbursement for the reasonable period that the customer is unable or unwilling to use his or her car.
