March 24, 2010 - Littleton - Interstate 495 northbound in Littleton was closed for several hours on Monday after a tractor-trailer accident. According to reports in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, a tractor-trailer rolled over on the freeway, which prompted police to close down the Interstate so the accident could be cleaned up.
The truck accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Monday near exit 30. Police have not released information on what caused the crash, but initial reports indicate that a tractor-trailer drove out of control, which eventually caused the rollover. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. It appears that the tractor-trailer was hauling gravel or some other type of construction material, which spilled onto the Interstate. The State Highway Department was called to the accident scene to assist with clearing the mess so traffic could be resumed.
The driver in this serious truck accident suffered personal injuries, but he is expected to survive. Police have not said where he was treated or his current condition. The Massachusetts State Police is still investigating this truck accident.
