February 3, 2010 - Falmouth - A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured after being involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle around 1 a.m. last Sunday evening.
According to reports in the Boston Herald, 17-year-old Clorissa Ann Decosta-Hicks was driving by herself in a 2000 Saturn when a Ford Taurus being driven by 21-year-old Edmund Lopes veered into the eastbound lane and the two cars collided at Brick Kiln Road and Route 28.
Decosta-Hick's car was actually pushed backward several feet and Lopes' car rolled over several times before landing on its roof. Both of the drivers were seriously injured in the two-car crash and had to be pulled out of their vehicles by rescue workers. Decosta-Hicks reportedly sustained serious injuries to her legs and was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital along with Lopes. There has been no updates to their current conditions.
Police believe speed was a major factor in the Falmouth car crash and have stated that Lopes will be criminally cited for his involvement in the two-car accident.
We sincerely hope that both victims of this tragic car accident make a full recovery from their injuries.
While the Falmouth Police continue to investigate this accident, we suggest that the family of Clorissa Ann Decosta-Hicks consult with a Massachusetts personal injury attorney who can advise them of their legal options and if necessary, help them file a Massachusetts personal injury lawsuit.
