
March 3, 2010 - Sunderland - A 23-year-old Sunderland resident suffered serious personal injuries on Friday night in a pedestrian accident on Route 116. According to reports at MassLive.com, Casey Patterson was crossing the street in a crosswalk near Squire Village Plaza when she was hit by a car. The pedestrian accident occurred shortly after 6 p.m.
The driver of the car has been identified as 68-year-old Phillip Rocash. Patterson is receiving treatment at Baystate Medical Center for numerous injuries, including several broken bones and trauma to her face and head. This specific intersection in Sunderland has seen a number of pedestrian accidents over the years, including the case of 25-year-old Jessica Hayes, who was killed in that same intersection back in 2004.
