Posted on Mar 01, 2010

March 1, 2010 - Mendon, Mass. - A Milford woman died in a single-car accident early Sunday morning that left her passenger with serious personal injuries.

NewsTelegram.com
reports that Leiagh C. McDonald, 22, was driving her Ford Escape on Bates Street at about 1:16 a.m. when authorities believe she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the road. Bates Street is known for its many curves.

The car hit a rock formation, and then crashed into a tree. Leiagh McDonald was ejected from the vehicle and died during the crash. Her passenger, Erik G. Larson, 23, of Milford was transported to Milford Regional Hospital with head injuries. Erik Larson was later transferred to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester where he remains in serious condition.

There was one witness to the Mendon car accident, a police officer who was driving from the other direction. The officer captured some footage of the tragic accident on the police vehicle's video camera.

Police continue to investigate the Bates Street crash, but believe that speed may have been a factor.
