Quincy Woman Charged with Stabbing Man in the Chest

Posted on Feb 17, 2010

February 17, 2010 - Quincy, Mass. - A Quincy woman was charged with stabbing a man in the chest on Monday night.

The Patriot Ledger
reports that Nilka Marie Martinez, 28, reportedly used an 8-inch kitchen knife to stab a 29-year-old area man in the chest. Neighbors had called police when they heard loud noises and commotion coming from the woman's West Quincy apartment at about 11 p.m.

When police arrived, Martinez claimed that a man, who had since left, had called her insulting names during an argument. Shortly afterward, authorities found a man nearby with a stab wound approximately 4 inches below his neck. The assault victim was having difficulty breathing.

Police returned to Martinez's apartment and arrested her after finding a bloody knife in her apartment.

The stabbing victim was taken to Boston Medical Center for the treatment of serious personal injuries. Martinez's 8-year-old daughter was with her at the time of the incident, and authorities transported the child to Quincy Medical Center to be checked for any signs of trauma.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the male assault victim, nor have they provided an updated status of his medical condition.

Our heart goes out to the injured victim in this frightening incident. We hope that he recovers fully from his injuries.

We understand that the Quincy Police Department is looking into the assault. However, even while the police are investigating the stabbing incident, we suggest that those injured consider consulting a SouthCoast, Massachusetts personal injury lawyer.
