February 3, 2010 - Lowell, Mass. - A worker at a construction site suffered serious work-related personal injuries Tuesday, January 26. Four people who were responding to the scene of the Lowell construction accident also sustained personal injuries.
The worker was standing on a scaffolding when he was injured by falling bricks during the jobsite accident. According to the Boston Herald, the worker was on the second story of the Hamilton Canal redevelopment project, an older building currently being reconstructed.
Several bricks fell suddenly from the fourth story of the building, striking and injuring the construction worker. He was transported to a nearby hospital for the treatment of unspecified accident injuries.
Two firefighters, a police officer, and a medical responder also suffered personal injuries as they responded to scene of the Lowell construction accident. There is no further information about the medical conditions or accident injuries of the four emergency personal who were injured at the Lowell construction site.
A representative from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, is investigating the cause of the incident to determine if any charges will be filed in the Massachusetts personal injury case.
